Film Poster Analysis

Name of distributor who has distributed another well-known film 'kidulthood' which appeals to audiences which enjoyed the distributors previous films. The red writing connotes blood as the word ‘shank’ is colloquial slang for ‘stab’, which also gives slight clues about the narrative to the audience making them feel more confident watching it. Also, the names of well-known actors and artists that are based in the ‘grime’ scene already and have starred in similar films before are put on the poster for the audience to recognize them as the target audince would already know quite a bit about the scene. Also, the fact that the main characters are running creates an enigma code and makes us as the audience wonder why that is.

The weather in the poster is grey, dark and cloudy which sets the mood as miserable and depressing done by the use of pathetic fallacy.

  1. WWW: Some good initial ideas using some terminology.

EBI: Write a more sustained analysis (highlighting media keywords in a different colour) where you consider key elements of mise en scene (clothing, body language, setting, etc.). Needs to be at least five more paragraphs.

  2. You have not completed any homework for my class. This is totally unacceptable for a year 12 student and you are now being monitored by the department. You will need to stay in lunchtime detentions until your blog is completely up to date.

You will need to produce the following:
*An analysis of how the opening 5 minutes of Kidulthood either challenges or supports dominant ideologies about young people.
*The media consumption analysis (sheet available from me or see Amina's blog for all the questions).
*The Save TV campaign pitch and print advert.
