Kidulthood

The costume for the characters in the film 'Kidulthood' are shown to reinforce the social stereotypes of society in London. This is shown all throughout the film. The characters are wearing hoods and baseball caps at school, which is most definitely not acceptable for 15 year old kids to be wearing to school. This is done to show that the british culture and generations of today are much different to those back 20-30 years ago and reinforce the stereotypes of teenagers being violent,anti-social and criminals.

The Lighting in the film is dark and grey all throughout as it creates a sense of pathetic fallacy and sets the dark mood for the film. For example this is shown in the beginning 5 minutes when the character 'jay' gets his gameboy stolen and 'trife' gets beaten up. This sets the mood throughout the rest of the film as the weather stays the same and the situation escalate giving the perfect advantage of setting the dark, grey mood for the audience. This reinforces the ideology of British society being anti-social and aggressive.

The actors in the film are well known british actors and are known to be around in the particular 'grime' scene. This creates a sense of identification with the actors as we are being allowed to see things from their perspectives at times which is done throughout various POV shots. This is shown when the girl is getting beaten up in the classroom and there is a number of POV shots being shown and this allows us to see things from the girl's view. This gives us the ability to be able to see things from her view and feel as if we are the victim too. This reinforces the common ideology of British society and it's teenagers being aggressive towards each other and bullying one another.

Save TV

Our campaign pitch is very simple, the concept is that tv is dying so that is why we chose to do this style of campaign.Basically the tv is dead and it is its funeral but the casket remains open as we felt as if the tv was needed to actually be shown 'dead'. The lighting in the background was specifically designed as it creates a mood of seriousness but calmness at the same time. We chose to do the writing in white as it creates a sense of purity and cleansliness within the picture.

Film Poster Analysis

Name of distributor who has distributed another well-known film 'kidulthood' which appeals to audiences which enjoyed the distributors previous films. The red writing connotes blood as the word ‘shank’ is colloquial slang for ‘stab’, which also gives slight clues about the narrative to the audience making them feel more confident watching it. Also, the names of well-known actors and artists that are based in the ‘grime’ scene already and have starred in similar films before are put on the poster for the audience to recognize them as the target audince would already know quite a bit about the scene. Also, the fact that the main characters are running creates an enigma code and makes us as the audience wonder why that is.

The weather in the poster is grey, dark and cloudy which sets the mood as miserable and depressing done by the use of pathetic fallacy.
